Starting your health journey by swapping it...not ditching it! Well not yet anyway ;)

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

The most two hardest obstacles when it comes to starting a new health journey is your mind set. Congratulations on reaching the preparation stage, this is where there is intention to take action toward your new journey, and some little steps have been taken. The first step is definitely the hardest. The second hardest part of your journey is breaking old habits.

This is why we do this slowly without much change at all. What we do is look for lower calorie alternatives for example, you may have a can of regular coke everyday, the alternative would be to replace it will coke zero.

These goals/strategies that are set in place for you will slowly help break these habits over time. The other reason behind swapping and replacing foods is to find a lower calorie replacement which will help you lose 0.5/1kg per week. Slow and steady wins the race and is found the weight will stay off long t

erm.

The stages of behaviour change is a journey within itself. The below diagram gives you a basic idea of what stage you may be at. Once you have recognised the problem it's all up hill from there. Don't get me wrong, it's hard work and relapses are absolutely normal, but because you are willing and determined, you keep moving forward.

The stages of behaviour change

An example of contemplation stage is you contacting me through either social media, email or mobile making an appointment to see me.This means you are in contemplation stage, you've recognised the problem and want to start making changes.

From here I will email you a food diary to fill out for the week and a consultation form. We will then go through your consultation form and your food diary and set you 3-4 goals/strategies for the next 4 weeks which will be very basic, just swapping and replacing high calorie foods/drinks to lower calorie.

I will text you every week to see how you are going, and if you need to chat to discuss any hurdles you may be facing, I will help you through it. It's all about your journey and reaching your goals.

I hope this little post has been informative, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to send it forward :)
